It all started In 1951 when Late Mr. Raj Kumar Jain moved from Pakistan to India and set up a small shop in the by lanes of Sadar Bazar, Old Delhi. Here he sold Knitting Needles along with a few other general products. Then in 1980, his son Mr. Niraj Jain joined the business bringing with him, his father’s experience, knowledge and his own enthusiasm which resulted in the expansion of the business. The company captured the market, grew immensely & became a name for reliable products. Passion for tailoring accessories runs in the family. Thus by 2010, the 3rd generation, Mr. Tushar Jain & Mr. Chintan Jain entered the business. The new generation, being brand conscious & well- exposed, made it a point to make Jyoti look “as good, as it sells”.
When asked what his definition of success is , this is what Mr. Niraj Jain had to say , “It is when I try my best in everything I do, even if that doesn’t lead to big results , it’s learning something new each day, not giving up, simply being able to say to your younger self : I designed this life, I didn’t settle for it. It is accomplishing the goal of helping myself and others lead a better, happier, healthier life.” According to him success is felt and realized when the work done achieves acclaim , it is a sense of satisfaction at the end of the day .
He had to face several adversities along the way, there was lack of talented and tech-savvy manpower , the infrastructure was poor , the utilities were in low production capacity , there was lack of innovation and proper marketing . Mr. Jain also went on to say “There are several loopholes in the system that keep businesses on the edge and prevent them from expanding or flourishing , frequent labour issues especially in such times of pandemic, is one of the most difficult areas for industries to operate”. However, nothing could obstruct his path to being a successful business , and Jyoti recently completed it’s Golden Jubilee. On being asked if there is anything he would do differently, knowing what he knows now, this is what Mr Jain had to say , “ It is very important to know that almost nothing in the world of business will go to plan, so always have a plan B. Always network with more like-minded people and take the time to think about who your ideal customer is so you can choose the best way to connect. I have learned to take my strengths and weaknesses more seriously, thus helping myself before I help others.
